After a selection of cameras,
monitors and lenses the next most important step in
the selection of equipment for CCTV System is the proper
selection of CCTV Accessories. This include all the
necessary equipment that is required to network all
the cameras and monitors together. From the definition
point of view some engineers regard CCTV System as a
Broadband Computer network, but over a long evolution
CCTV Technology has been made far easier than Computer
Broadband Networking. There exist a large variety of
CCTV Accessories, but some of the most commonly employed
equipment is discussed as follows:
Video
Switchers:
The
most simplest way to connect a number of cameras with
a single monitor is to use a Video Switcher. It is actually
a time activated switch which connects one camera with
the monitor at a time. It usually consists of a clock
and a video switching circuit. Cameras from 2 to 16 are
usually switched from a Video Switcher. However, for systems
larger than 16 cameras the time required to complete one
cycle is too long and hence is usually not suitable and
other alternatives are employed.
